Teaching, Proofreading
Lucie Duffort was recommended to me by a colleague during my research stay at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Ca, in 2011, and she has been a great support for my own research since then. Even now, as a project manager back at the University of St.Gallen in Switzerland, she is my first choice when I need proofreading for my articles, abstracts and project reports. Having a proofreader in the U.S. is a big advantage for any European researcher under time constraints, as I can often send her shorter texts in the evening and have a corrected version in my mailbox the next morning. Additionally, having her as a proofreader is a big advantage to me as she is not only correcting my language but is editing my citations and reference lists as well - something annoying for everyone who has to deal with different submission requirements for double-blind peer reviewed journals. So far, the work she has proofread for me has appeared in multiple journals, and I have not received a single negative comment from a reviewer regarding language, spelling or citations.

I hired Lucie Duffort to help me with a very important assignment for SF State. I have worked with writing tutors before, and Lucie’s method has proven to be the most effective. When I met Lucie, she immediately made me comfortable. Writing is a personal thing and can be kind of scary, but Lucie set me at ease and did not make me feel judged in regards to things that I could improve on.
She gave me a sort of assessment where after reading my entire paper was able to point out a few things that I could focus on. Structure is a problem for me and she explained it in a simple manner. She didn’t say “write it this way”, she used techniques like asking me questions that lead me down the path so that I could form the new sentence myself. For one, this caused me to be more engaged, but also, it made me feel like my opinion and way of doing things was valued and that I was not “wrong”. By the end, I felt like I had some good new goals and that I could use the techniques on my own. She didn’t hold my hand, she just showed me the path and let me do it myself.

Writing (publicity)
(Lucie) is totally bilingual English/French, she is smart and quick, she is charming and funny, and she does an excellent job wherever she has accepted responsibility. Most of all, she has been totally trustworthy with any writing task I have entrusted her with, including high responsibility jobs... To say it briefly, I would recommend Lucie Duffort without any hesitation, as her work with me has been flawless.
